Greg Lipton is a Canadian born artist who first came to the Cayman Islands in 1983 when he spent his first summer with his Grandparents and extended family in Cayman Brac.
So far, Greg has displayed art with the Visual Arts Society, Full of Beans cafe, as well as at a number of charity auctions.
Greg’s artwork is currently on display at Arteccentrix Fine Art Gallery and he is the gallery’s featured artist for the month of June.
Though painting has been his main focus for the past 3 years, Greg has developed in other creative fields such as photography, sculpting, and film making. Through his art, Greg hopes to convey strong clear messages that people will be able to identify with.
The ideas behind his art are complex but executed in simple design and form, always telling a story worth discussing. Greg fills each creation with hope that the artwork will inspire viewers, and will lead to some level of self reflection.
This is Greg’s first art display for 2010 and will be followed by a solo show at Arteccentrix this coming December. With this particular series Greg has chosen to experiment with various styles and technique using only black and white without what he calls the “distraction of color”.
He hopes people will focus on the subject matter and meaning instead of the absence of color.
Arteccentrix is constantly seeking to promote and introduce talented artists to the viewing public and Greg is an emerging artist whom the fully gallery endorses and views as someone with enormous potential. Greg’s paintings whether in colour or black and white speak volumes, every emotion can be felt, every stroke of the brush means something: they embody the true spirit of the artist.
Arteccentrix endeavours to reveal the raw talent and creativity of each artist by allowing them to represent their individuality rather than feeling obliged to follow any “creating for the market” mentality. We understand that to rein in an artist’s individuality is to stifle true creativity and the true genius of what it means to be an artist.
Visitors to the gallery during June 2010 will be treated to a mini exhibit of some of Greg’s latest works, several never seen before pieces included. If you are looking for monochrome art for your walls, now would be a great time to secure a piece of Greg Lipton’s work because prices are definitely set to rise for the paintings of this upcoming Cayman artist.
Greg has also intimated that he will soon be moving away from his black and white series of paintings and returning to working with colour so original monochrome pieces are going to become scarcer as time goes by.
For current information on the artist please see his profile and gallery under the “Our Artists” tab at the top of the page.
