Cayman Artist Al Ebanks : Solo Exhibition
We are pleased to announce that the first solo show to be held at Arteccentrix will feature the work of one of Cayman’s leading exponents of abstract art and sculpture, Al Ebanks.
The show, named “Beyond The Surface” will open on April 15 at 6pm and will run until April 22 2010.
Al has already produced some excellent work for the show, much of which has never been on public display, and lovers of his paintings will not want to miss the chance to see some of these latest pieces. If you have ever wanted to acquire an Al Ebanks original, “Beyond The Surface” is something to mark down on your calendar!
The opening night of the show will be a great opportunity to meet the artist too and refreshments and wine will be provided for our guests courtesy of show sponsors Tortuga Liquors in Governor’s Square and Pepper Patch Pepper Jellies.
Al is best known for his stunning large scale abstract works and his latest paintings will not disappoint. Al’s work always stimulates much conversation and analysis and he enjoys nothing more than talking about the effects his work has on the viewer and their interpretation of the paintings.
We are extremely pleased to be able to bring this show to the viewing public and art lovers across the islands and consider Al to be in the very top percentile of Cayman artists, certainly in the field of abstraction where he excels in his ability to produce original and highly thought provoking canvases.
Al is one of the founder members of Native Sons and has exhibited extensively with the group and in various solo shows both in Cayman and the US. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Cayman Islands National Museum, National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, the Grifffin Gallery in Chicago, the Sherry Frontenac Hotel in Miami and many private collections. Al also travelled to Miami in 2004 for a solo show at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in South Beach. Recently his work was chosen to grace the homes depicted in the movie “Haven” which was directed by Caymanian filmmaker, Frankie Flowers.
